The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) Certificate in Emergency Medical Technology course is an intensive, one-year program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become competent Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). This program is designed to prepare students to become certified EMTs, who are responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critically ill or injured patients. The program is divided into three semesters, with each semester focusing on a different aspect of emergency medical care. During the first semester, students learn the basics of emergency medical care, including patient assessment, airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and basic life support (BLS). In the second semester, students learn advanced medical techniques, such as advanced airway management, intravenous therapy, and trauma management. The third semester focuses on the practical application of the skills and knowledge acquired in the first two semesters. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam.
